An established contractor is seeking a skilled Setting Out Engineer to take full ownership of site engineering delivery across groundworks and RC frame projects in London. This role offers the opportunity to be the technical lead on site, using the latest surveying equipment and working closely with project teams to ensure work is delivered to the highest standards.
Key Duties:
- Take full ownership of setting out on site — line, level, and dimensions across all project elements
- Carry out accurate topographical and level surveys pre-start and during construction
- Check layouts and boundaries with project and design teams
- Maintain and update construction drawings, registers, and digital records
- Use Leica total stations (TS06 / TS12 / TS16) for all site engineering tasks
- Take off and order materials for groundworks and RC frame (rebar, waterproofing, drainage, cast-in items, concrete, etc.)
- Identify and resolve setting out issues, managing RFIs and technical queries
- Support QA process using FlowForma and implement Inspection Test Plans
- Prepare and issue as-builts, maintaining accurate records and supporting QS teams
- Raise technical submittals and ensure compliance with project specifications
- Produce and work with CAD drawings where required
Experience & Qualifications:
Strong technical setting out skills with proven experience on RC frame and groundworks projects
Confident user of Leica EDM equipment
CSCS Engineering/Surveying card or equivalent qualification
Proficient in record keeping, QA documentation, and as-builts
Proactive problem-solver with a methodical and accurate approach
Good knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, and specifications
Punctual, dependable, and eligible to work in the UK
Desirable:
