About the Role:
A growing groundworks and civil engineering contractor is seeking an Assistant / Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join an established commercial team. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across both pre-construction and live project commercial management, supporting the delivery of multiple residential and infrastructure schemes.
The successful candidate will work closely with experienced QS professionals, gaining exposure to cost control, procurement, valuations, and subcontractor management. Professional development and further training will be supported to encourage long-term progression within the commercial team.
Key Duties:
- Assist with commercial administration across live projects
- Support preparation of valuations and applications for payment
- Assist with variation management and cost tracking
- Help prepare tender and subcontract documentation
- Support procurement of subcontractors and materials
- Attend site visits to support project teams
- Assist with final accounts and commercial reporting
- Maintain accurate project documentation and records
Experience & Requirements:
Construction-related qualification or working towards one desirable
Some experience within construction or commercial environment beneficial
Strong numeracy and organisational skills
Good understanding of drawings and basic measurement
Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel
Ability to travel between office and site locations
