About the Company / Project:
A leading civil engineering and tunnelling contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee complex infrastructure projects across London and the Home Counties. With a strong reputation for safety, quality, and delivery, the company continues to expand its portfolio across major schemes nationwide.
About the Role:
The Project Manager will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of civil engineering projects, ensuring compliance with programme, quality standards, and budget. The role involves managing resources, forecasting, and liaising with senior management to report risks, opportunities, and project performance.
Key Duties:
- Lead site teams, ensuring all operations are delivered safely and efficiently
- Take full commercial ownership of projects, maximising value and controlling costs
- Produce procurement schedules and coordinate with internal teams to secure resources
- Prepare and monitor project programmes, forecasts, and scope changes
- Ensure production and implementation of project plans, RAMS, ITPs, and waste management plans
- Maintain accurate project records, including diaries and cost/value reconciliations
- Attend progress meetings and provide detailed reports to senior management
- Promote best practice in safety, quality, and environmental performance
Experience & Qualifications:
- Proven experience managing civil engineering or tunnelling projects in the UK
- Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and change management
- Proficient in cost control, forecasting, and programme management
- Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- SMSTS certification
- Ability to challenge designs and resolve technical issues effectively
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
