About the Role:
The hiring company is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team based in Kent. This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially driven professional to oversee the financial delivery of contracts, manage costs, and build strong relationships with clients and teams. The role involves working on diverse projects with a focus on delivering high-quality results within budget and on time.
Key Duties:
- Fully understand the project’s contractual and commercial requirements, including compliance with JCT and NEC contracts, quality standards, and risk management.
- Prepare and submit accurate external valuations in line with contractual terms, ensuring payments are received promptly and taking full responsibility for the contracts’ cash flow position.
- Manage all project costs, including manual costing, preparation, compilation, and submission of applications for payment.
- Procure, manage, and assess the performance of subcontractors, from placing orders to evaluating work completed and final accounts.
- Procure supply-chain orders to accurately reflect the scope of works and manage their administration, valuations, and payment notices.
- Re-measure works in accordance with the method of measurement, ensuring accuracy and maximising entitlement.
- Oversee and support site teams with record-keeping, notices, and site diaries to ensure smooth project progression.
- Produce detailed monthly CVR (Cost Value Reconciliation) reports, ensuring they reflect the current site position and final profit forecasts.
- Collaborate closely with the Commercial Director on additional commercial tasks as required.
Experience:
- At least 10 years of experience in Quantity Surveying, with a proven track record of delivering projects successfully.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or an equivalent discipline.
Skills:
- Strong commercial and contractual knowledge, particularly with JCT and NEC contracts.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and financial management skills.
- Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel and Outlook) and software such as Bluebeam.
- Excellent mathematical and IT skills with attention to detail.
- In-depth understanding of construction methods and materials.
- Highly motivated, self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Friendly, professional demeanor with a focus on building positive relationships.
Other Requirements:
- Full UK driving licence, as the role involves travel between office and project sites.
